Bring back Ragi - the lost grain in your bite l Ragi chilla

Ragi also known as Finger Millet has a unique earthy flavour and is super healthy nutrition-wise. A grain which was once very popular has become absent today from most of our diet. Ragi is known as Nachni in Maharashtra, Ragi in Karnataka, Mandua in Uttarakhand, Ragulu in Andhra Pradesh, & Kezhvaragu in Tamilnadu.

Why should Ragi be a part of your diet:

Here we have a yummy recipe of 'Ragi chilla’. It's high in nutrition & is a complete meal. Paired with mint & coconut chutney & the juicy beetroot carrot salad, this is a SATVIK meal your body needs!


  • 2 cups ragi flour

  • 1 beetroot

  • 1 carrot

  • Fresh coriander leaves

  • Fresh methi leaves

  • Rock salt & other spices as per taste

  • Cold pressed coconut oil for roasting

  • Water


  • Grate beetroot and carrot

  • Chop the coriander & methi leaves finely

  • Mix ragi flour with these ingredients

  • Add water and make a batter with semi-fluid consistency

  • Add the spices. Your batter is ready.

  • Heat a cast iron pan

  • Grease it with half onion

  • Pour a ladle of batter and spread. Put some cold pressed coconut oil. Once one side is cooked, flip it and cook the other side.

  • Serve with your favourite chutneys.
