Millet HealthMix Powder

About the Recipe


  • 1 ½ cups of foxtail millet

  • ¼ cup Kodo millet

  • ¼ split yellow moong dal

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • A pinch of hing (asafoetida)


  • Make sure all the ingredients are measured out.

  • Firstly rinse all the items thoroughly.

  • Soak them overnight

  • Let them dry under the sun for an hour and roast them one by one until golden brown.

  • Once both the millets are roasted, add moong dal and roast until golden brown. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  • Once the cumin roast is slightly browned, add the hing (asafoetida) roast for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

  • Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a mixer and grind it into a semi-fine powder. Leave it to cool off for a few minutes before storing.

  • The health mix powder can be used in many different ways (making porridge, custard, halwa, upma etc).
